Thank you to all who attended our monthly Hub.

Each month we are hosting different events from Bingo to Baking. This is one of the unique attributes to Morris Healthcare Group. We provide these as free as possible to tackle isolation and loneliness in the community. These events have a small afternoon tea style buffet along with hot and cold drinks. We also invite one of our brand partners to join us to showcase their services.
Well what can I say? Another incredible event.
So today Tuesday 25th February we hosted a Carpet Bowls Championship. Not quite the carpet bowls most of us know however it was Morris Healthcare Groups version. With the room filled with laughter and smiles it was defiantly a version of bowls we all enjoyed.
We started off by having some tea and treats which are donated to us from Wiltshire Farm Foods. Unfortunately Tayla the Community Engagement Manager for Wiltshire couldn’t make it this time but still gave us more than enough to fill us up (and some to take home).
We had our guest David from Denture Savers join us and explain his services which interested quite a few of our attendees. As well as choosing our best team name ……. I’ll reveal that later.
DOWN TO THE COMPETITION
This is where things got serious….. seriously funny. With the room laid out and our lines taped up we had a few trial rounds where the bowls were flying into the next room. We even thought we had it easy with a furry guest to fetch the balls however they decided that spectating was for them. I think we over anticipated the speed of the bowls on the carpet. After a few warm ups we then kicked off with our championship. We ended up having all teams spectating the event and chanting ‘OGGY OGGY OGGY – OI OI OI’ really showcasing the great sportsmanship we had as well as the diverse characters that have come together as a wonderful community. Myself and Alison our Well-being Manager had no idea of the rules however we made up our own and styled it out with no complaints. In fact we were complimented on our hosting and comedy skills. We then crowned our winners ‘Figure Heads’ with a big bottle of fizz and then we asked David to crown our best team name ‘ DIKE ( haha)’ As in DIKE like NIKE. Well done to our competitors and thank you so much for making this event a humongous success yet again.
If only we could bottle and sell the laughter and enjoyment of today. This is exactly what Morris Healthcare Group envisioned – bringing people together, combating isolation and loneliness.
Keep an eye out for our future monthly events as we have some really exciting things coming.
Look forward to seeing you at our next event at the Burton Latimer Community Centre 25th March 12:00 – 14:30. with a special guest singer!
